Both of my parents immigrated from South America to the United States and sacrificed so much of their own lives to give me and my siblings a better one.
Moving to Miami when I was 2 years old, I quickly picked up soccer. It was everything to me growing up. As I grew into my teens, my co-founder and club coach Scott Baker will be the first to tell you I was the one calling him for individual training sessions, asking to join his older girls’ practice, and doing sports psychology training all before finishing my own team’s training session in a day. My Dad, also known as “Pappi”, knows better than anyone the amount of time and dedication it took me to compete at the Division I level. In addition to my own hard work, my father would drive an hour every day to and from practice so I could finish my homework in the car. He took me to professional games so I could see the level of play I was striving toward. He mentored me after practices and games, inspiring me to elevate my game.
The best piece of advice I ever got during the recruiting process was, “Use soccer to open doors that would not have been otherwise available to you.” The sport took to me new heights, both professionally and academically: Duke University Women’s Soccer Team, 2011 NCAA Division 1 National Finalist at Duke University, Chief of Staff to the IBM CIO, Vice President of Arkos Health, and Co-Founder of SoccerHead.
My goal now with Scott is to make a lifestyle brand for a sport that gave us so much.
SoccerHead will bring together a soccer obsessed fans and players to share their passion in community.
Here’s to the best of soccer - it’s people,
